Dr Emily Cox - Challenge 5
Emily is a research associate in the Understanding Risk Group at Cardiff University in Wales. She has a background in science and technology studies, with a PhD in energy policy from SPRU at Sussex University. Her work now focuses on public perceptions of energy and climate technologies, including techniques to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. She also has expertise in public perceptions and opposition towards energy technologies, including Carbon Capture and Storage, fracking and nuclear power. Finally, she works on projects which aim to achieve a whole-systems energy transition, working on electricity infrastructures and holistic net zero pathways. Her work aims to embed principles of public engagement and responsible innovation in technology development. Emily is a part-time lecturer in social psychology and social science research methods at MSc and BSc level. She has a background in the NGO sector, working as a campaigner and project manager before becoming an academic.
