Mr Andrew Kingdon - Challenge 3
Andrew Kingdon is Head of BGS Digital Laboratories, a petrophysicist and expert in geological data management. He has nearly 30 years’ experience in borehole imaging, understanding multi-scale subsurface heterogeneity and the UK in-situ stress field. His research experience cross-cuts hydrocarbons, large research infrastructures (ODP and UKGEOS) and radioactive waste disposal. He is leading development of tools permitting easy geodata extraction from complex sources, populating static heterogeneous model volumes to host dynamic subsurface fluid models and their visualisation. He has defined the petrophysical program for the upcoming UKGEOS Cheshire Observatory.
Digital Labs is the BGS Digital R&D programme which links landscape modelling, studies of heterogeneity and stress, statistical and AI/ML approaches for quantifying spatial and volumetric variability, uncertainty, visualisation and user experience, The aims is to produce an integrated quantitative approach for studying geological systems.
