Professor Colin Snape FRSE- Challenge 2

Prof. Colin Snape FRSE been involved in fuel science and technology for over 40 years and has 370 peer reviewed publications and has successfully supervised over 50 PhDs. He has led many UK Research Council, UK Government and Research Fund for Coal & Steel and Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and currently directs the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in CCS and Cleaner Fossil Energy. His current research programme encompasses novel adsorbents for CO2 capture, while continuing research on hydropyrolysis and high-pressure water pyrolysis in oil and shake gas gas exploration, coking phenomena and biomass conversion. focussing on hydrothermal carbonisation (HTC) for bio-waste utilisation. His interests in shale gas resource estimation, HTC and biochar all build upon his specialist knowledge of industrial and analytical pyrolysis. Honours include winning the Henry H. Storch Award in 2006 from the American Chemical Society and being an Honorary Chair Professor at Shandong University.
