Professor Quentin Fisher
Fisher is Professor of Petroleum Geoengineering and Director of the Wolfson multi-phase flow laboratory at the University of Leeds. He is also the founder of PETRIVA Ltd (www.petriva.co.uk) - a spin-out company that develops data-visualization/mining software and provides consultancy services such as fault and top seal analysis, tight gas petrophysics and core analysis. Fisher gained a PhD in isotope geochemistry and then moved to RDR Ltd. where he spent ~20 years conducting research and consultancy projects focused on fault seal analysis. During that time, he was involved with a large number of fault seal projects for Shell including the first ones to include the multiphase flow properties of faults in production simulation models. In 2008, he accepted a chair at Leeds where he built a multi-disciplinary group conducting research on a range of subjects including: coupled flow-geomechanical modelling, petrophysics of tight sandstones and shales as well as continuing his work on fault seal analysis. He has published >100 academic papers on subjects including geochemistry, geomicrobiology, data visualization, structural geology, petroleum engineering, geomechanics and geophysics.
