A Brief History of the UK's Political Debate over Shale Gas, 2009 - 2019
UKUH’s latest social science benchmark report has been released on our website. It can be found here on our website and looks at how the political debates in the UK have evolved from 2009 to 2019. It considers how different actors in the debate tried to present, or frame, their arguments for public consumption. The effectiveness of these differing arguments is considered along with the possible reason for the resonance of these arguments. Not only does this briefing offer a useful insight into the problems that the UK shale industry has encountered, its conclusions offer insight into the possible difficulties that may be encountered in the construction of the infrastructure required for the UK’s transition to net zero.
