UKUH PI, Richard Davies, leads a new consortium

Newcastle, Oxford and Durham Universities along with industry partners igas and Third Energy launch a new consortium, Net Zero RISE (Research Infrastructure for Subsurface Energy).

Net Zero RISE has been established to support the UK's energy transition to Net Zero by reusing onshore infrastructure that is available now.

We are seeking funding to turn existing onshore deep wells into test sites. The test sites will provide the UK with a national capability - providing a safe and controlled environment for testing new and innovative subsurface technologies and techniques for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), Hydrogen storage and geothermal exploitation.
